Contractor Verified started as a small, Austin-based team. Not a franchise, and paying for featured placement never skips the vetting. Every listing here is checked by a person first.
How It Started
A neighbor's bad contractor story, one too many times.
The idea started the way most Austin word-of-mouth does: over a fence, after someone's third quote in a row turned out to be unlicensed, uninsured, or just gone after the deposit cleared. Everyone had a story. Nobody had a good way to check before hiring, only after.
We started keeping our own list of trades we'd actually vetted, the kind you'd hand a friend on a napkin. That list is what turned into Contractor Verified: still built the same way, just organized so a whole neighborhood can search it instead of one person's phone contacts.
We are not trying to be the biggest directory in Texas. We are trying to be the one Austin homeowners actually trust, which means staying small enough to still check every listing ourselves.
How It Works
One directory, two simple paths.
If you're a homeowner: browsing and contacting a verified pro is always free. Search by name or by trade, message the ones that fit, and compare on your own terms.
If you're a contractor: listing is a flat fee, not a percentage of every job. Plans start at $30 a month for one trade category, with an annual option that covers every category you qualify for.
Beyond the Directory
It's a community, not just a list.
We host contractor meetups around Austin, the kind where people actually talk shop instead of pitching each other. Continuing-education nights, seasonal mixers, the occasional job-site walkthrough for a build worth seeing.
The “Member of the Month” spotlight on the directory comes out of these events, not a raffle. It goes to whoever showed up, both to the events and for their clients.
